Albion Street WMC, (The Nash).
The club was very busy tonight as it usually is on Tuesday nights; on stage tonight is John Fitzpatrick, he was as always very smart from top to toe in his stage wear and off stage too. John has a super voice and an excellent repertoire as well as an excellent following. He opened his show with what has become his signature song, Matt Monro's, 'How Do You Do', followed by Elvis's, 'Return To Sender', well John is in fine form tonight. There were songs from Tony Christie, there were some good liners there. 'Only Sixteen' which was recorded by Sam Cooke and Craig Douglas, both versions were chart successes. One you don't hear too often these days is Daniel Merryweather's, 'Red'. I think this is one of John's better tracks. Back in time for, 'The Sunny Side Of The Street', one from the legendary Frank Sinatra. There was a lot more but, you go and see John Fitzpatrick for yourself.
GILLY'S was again busy, well it's Tuesday in Westgate Common where the traditional country music takes place. On stage tonight it's McKenzie, Zoe and a duo, I got there in time for a Tanya Tucker song, ‘Walking Shoes’, one called 'That's How I Got To Memphis'. Two lovely, no, beautiful voices in harmony and I will add, two good musicians along with excellent tracks. Runaway Wife. I liked a Roy Orbison song, 'Blue Bayou'. One by k d lang 'Constant craving' I think. There was a song called, 'The Breeze'. The final song in the set was a Patsy Cline song, no, it's not Crazy, it's 'I Fall To Pieces'. Zoe sang this so well. What a lovely chord at the end.
