I Attended A Charity Show In West Green Club, Barnsley Tonight. The Charity was ‘Carters Right To Treatment;
There was a very good attendance with some great acts giving their services Free. Compering the show was one, John Gillan who opened his set with a song I have never heard him sing before, 'Unchain My Heart'. A Joe Cocker song, Brilliant. There followed Johns jokes that went down really well. John went on to introduced He introduced first act who are, 2real. Top class voices and more comedy from the guys. They opened their set with, 'Mr Blue Sky', super harmonies, a Four Seasons medley that included, Sherry Baby, Let's Hang On, Big girls Don't Cry, Walk Like A Man, Rag Doll and lots more. An excellent set from these guys. Even more comedy in this set, very funny guys. I liked their version of, 'Sex On The Beach', 2Real closed their set with a Meatloaf medley mixed comedy. That's Glynn and Paul who are....2Real. A la, Stylistics and Meatloaf.
Next up was a two girl duo, they are DC Rising, a new one on me But they looked fabulous in black sparkly dresses, like the shoes, two great voices in superb harmony, lots of Motown and soul, there were, 'Reach Out', Sugar Pie Honey', I just loved Kathryn and Donna's version of Andre Bocelli's,'The Prayer', in Italian of course. Next was a medley of Lady Gaga songs, 'I Was Born This Way', followed by ,'The Edge Of Glory', and the rest. What a show the girls gave us. They closed their part of the show with, 'More Than A Woman', and more, brilliant ladies.
John sang another sang another Italian song, I'll ask him what the title is when he comes off stage, whatever it is John sings it so well. Ah John has just told me the song was, 'La Luna Che Non C E, He also showed what a great guitarist he is. ?ish.
The next act in this fast moving show was guitar/ vocalist Darren Knight. He too looked very smart on stage, a couple of his songs were, 'Summertime Blues', Darren can sure play that guitar and has a great voice. I didn't know all his songs but liked what I heard. Blue Moon Of Kentucky' was one I did recognise. They were mostly country music songs. There was a Roy Orbison song, 'In Dreams'. A Johnny Cash song, 'Daddy Sang Bass', Good set Darren, Like the shoes.
There were two more acts to come, Sky Adams and a father and daughter duo called, That's My Girl, I’m sure John or Tina Dean, who organised the show will tell me how they fared. Tina told me today that both acts were excellent. I will catch up with them at a later date, I do know Sky who is a good entertainer and the father in the duo, Wayne Hamilton who is a good entertainer too.
On sound tonight is was Jon Dean and on lights, Carl Sayer. Doing a great job there guys.
A call from Tina told me that over £1,060 was raised for the Charity...
