Walking Back To Happiness was the entertainment tonight with Jane and Dean Hubert. There were lots of costumes changes, Jane was first as Connie Francis singing 'Where The Boys Are', the outfit was a dress from the 50/60s era. Like the shoes. Next it was Dean in a smart suit as Cliff Richard singing, 'Lucky Lips, on to 'Bachelor Boy' and ‘Summer Holiday'. More from Cliff. Jane came back as, 'Alma Cogan' singing 'Dream Boat', 'Sugar time', lots more came along with more costume changes. Adam Faith, John Leyton, Another Connie Francis song, 'Who's Sorry Now', On to Dean Martin's, 'That's Amore', the concert chair sang along with every song, I thought he was next on stage. Jane was back as Doris Day singing, 'Que Sera'. followed by Kathy Kirby's version of 'Secret Love'. Enter, Billy Fury. Helen Shapiro, 'Walking Back To Happiness', the first set was a 45 minutes set as was the second finishing the night with a half hour dance set.A great show from, Walking Back To Happiness / Two Steps Forward.
We called in at the Quarry pub in Horbury bridge; very busy with Richard Hopper in charge of the disco and Karaoke. There were a few good singers there who were enjoying the atmosphere. The Quarry is in the capable hands of 'Steve', formerly of the Admiral Duncan in Wakefield. Steve told me that the Quarry is now a steak house. There has been extensive alterations including a new surface for the car park. The Quarry looks great.
The afore mentioned Admiral Duncan was very busy with a party going on and a band, 'Loaded', supplying the music. The music of Elvis, Neil Diamond, Status Quo There was a rocky version of the Carpenters, ‘Top Of The World’ and lots more. All the bar staff were in fancy dress, one of the girls, Beth, was dressed as Kieran,(She had a beard painted on her face). Again a superb atmosphere in The Admiral Duncan...
