'Hero', when I arrived with absolutely no effort. The Club Secretary, Don Isaac, told me that Geoff first sang in this club, 'The Nash', 45 years ago, that's 1970. Well he still sounds excellent. His next song was an Elvis song, 'Can't Help Falling In Love'. Other songs were from different eras. This next one was Geoff's own personal favourite, Gerry Rafferty's , 'Baker Street', even a Michael Holiday song, 'The Story Of My Life'. A Craig Douglas song, another Elvis song, Geoff closed the set with, 'Love Is All'. Another great show from Gentleman Jim Grayson.. Pictured Below..

Tonight at Gilly's were the exceptional ,‘Texas Gun’. Due to George Senior. having to go into hospital the morning they were appearing left, George Junior and his son Ryan to entertain yet another full house. Its good to say that George Senior. is ok and will be back with the lads very soon. Back to tonight. what a great first spot with a few golden oldies mixed with a selected set of new country. Terrific voices from young Ryan and his father George Junior. There were some great harmonies and great lead guitar rifts from George while Ryan played rhythm. Some of the songs were “Look at us” .. Vince Gill, “Love Me’, A Colin Ray song and, ‘Everything That Glitters Is Not Gold’ written by Dan Seals. Young George was telling me he had been up most of the night putting Bass lines on the backing tracks which his father usually plays and I must say it worked well. Gilly tells me they will be back in the future with hopefully George Senior. That will be great to see although they did a great job as a duo and all the crowd enjoyed every last song. One song that really went down well was a Cat Stevens song, ‘Here Comes My Baby’, covered by the “Mavericks” back in 2005. So well done to the lads to cope as a duo and all the best to George Senior.
A VERY BUSY ALBION STREET CLUB WELCOMED LAUREN.
The artiste tonight in the busy Nash is, Lauren Faye Moss, looking lovely in a short red dress, like the shoes. Her sound system and backing tracks are excellent, Lauren has a lovely voice, she opened her show with, 'My Guy', a good opener, next was a Carol King song, the members immediate took a liking to Lauren's style of music. An Elvis Presley song followed, 'In The Ghetto', love that song. A Dolly Parton song was next, from light opera to country music, pops, and she has string of Tributes up her sleeve. Lauren is a very young lady, she has to have a hip replacement later in the year. Next we had a Cher song, 'Walking In Memphis', the Carpenters song, 'Top Of The World'. Lauren really is a must see. Coming up is a Whitney Houston big hit, 'I Have Nothing', what a range in her voice, the key changes are something else. One from Les Miserable impressed the members judging by the applause. Lauren's last song is her set was Cher's, 'Gypsies Tramps And Thieves'. A terrific set, but don't just ask me, ask the members. Glasshoughton Club, Star Trail. Comparing is Harry Turnstyle, he opened the show with a song called, 'Love Of The Common People', a Paul Young song. There were only three contestants due to illness tonight. The first contestant tonight is soul singer, Darren East, he is a guitar vocalist who has a strong voice, his first song was, 'Sugar Man' followed by more soul songs, I don't really know them and I'm not going to pretend I do. Having said that Darren has some good sounding songs. His last song was called, 'Rip Tide', another new one on me. Jake Walsh was next up, he was dressed in a smart suit and shirt, like the shoes, his first was one I really like, 'La Donna Mobile'. This was followed by Schubert's 'Ave Maria', the next song from Jake, 'Bring Him Home', to finish this very impressive set, Jake sang,' Nessun Dorma' . Well done that man. John Fitzpatrick was the last contestant looking very smart in a blue jacket, white shirt black trousers and bow tie, like the shoes. What a voice, his first song was a Chuck Berry song, 'Johnny B Goode, followed by a Gary Barlow hot song,'Me Go'. In contrast he sang, 'Love Is All'. A couple of John's idols, Matt Monro, he closed his set with, 'All Of Me', An excellent set from John Fitzpatrick. Because there were only 3 contestants tonight, due to illness, Paul Stewart obliged with a few songs. I didn't catch the titles but no matter, Paul gave a good show. Like The Shoes. I will be finding where he is before long. If you're interested in putting your name forward get the name, email address and phone number off the poster. Tonight In Glasshoughton WMC.
