The Stat Band In Smawthorne Lane.
The club was busy tonight for this top band. There were people there from
the Normanton Coronation club, Cutsyke club and some from Glasshoughton.
The Stat band opened their first set with an impressive walk on theme; their
first song was, 'Don't You Cry No More'. A great band with excellent harmonies,
four well dressed musicians of a high standard and good voices. Song number two,
'No Matter What You Do', 'There She Goes' a Laas song. There was a Neilson song,
'Without You'. Wishbone Ash song called, 'Blowing Free'. A very different set list from a lot I've heard of late. A McGuiness Flint song, 'When I'm Dead And Gone', a Manfred Mann number, 'Baby's On The Road Again'. The last song in the set was a Paul McCartney Bond composition, 'Live. And Let Die'.
In set two the Stat band opened with, 'Listen To The Music'.... McCartney’s
'Band On The Run', again very tight harmonies. 'He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother',
a Hollie's hit from the 60's. One more from Manfred Mann this time with his
Earth Band, 'Blinded By The Light', 'Mama Told Me Not To Come', 'Bad Company's',
'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love'. There were lots more from this band, the
members loved them, Pat did so I did.. Trevor Sergeant on lead guitar, Trevor
Midgley on guitar, mandolin, paper and comb, keyboards, on bass it's. Big Al
and. With Simon on drums. A very good band. 'The STAT' Band.
