Sunday afternoon in the Lupset in Wakefield is where we saw the top family band, 'BeardSmith', (As seen on GMTV. Dad NEIL was on guitar, drums, violin, bass and vocals. GILLAN on drums Mandolin and Vocals, (with comedy), GED is on bass and drums and vocals, on lead guitar is GARY also vocals, GRAHAM is on guitar, keyboards and vocals, The lady in the band is ALICE who is on keyboards, violin, guitar and vocals. 'Sweet Home Alabama', was their opening number, the Lupset was very busy such is the interest in this super band. One from Def Leopard. Not my type of music but good just the same. I loved 'The Devil Went Down Georgia' with Alice and Neil on violins. There was one that Beard-smith can't leave without singing and that is The Electric Light Orchestra's, 'Mr Blue Sky'. There was, 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing', which is an Aerosmith song; excellent harmonies here. There were quite a number of entertainers and retired in the Lupset today , entertainers in here today; Siobhan Philips, John and Karen Mycroft, Joy Ellis and many more. I met the Lupset manager, Rebecca, a real live wire this lady is. There are some great acts coming to the Lupset in the next few weeks, see the poster below.
Child Performer at Outwood Wmc. Yes, on stage tonight is Ricky Graham who was the lead singer in the 'Boy Band, Child'. Graham was, as always , immaculately dressed for the stage, he has a voice like velvet and a wide variation of songs under his belt. The sound equipment is top class, (no trailing wires on the stage). Ricky opened his show with a Neil Diamond song, 'Cracklin' Rosie', this was followed by a Matt Monro song, 'Walk Away'. The presentation is second to none. The greeting from the audience is warm and friendly and they appreciated his performance from the very first notes. A Tony Christie song went down well, 'Avenues And Alleyways' a Tony Christie song. Songs by Garth Brooks, Bobby Vee, Willie Nelson , Luther Van Dross, another Neil Diamond song were a sample of Ricky Graham's excellent show. The set we saw ended with, David Alexander's, 'The Answer'. Ricky's publicity says, 'Class Comes As Standard', how very true that is..... Over to the Lupset where Terry Webster was the first of six acts scheduled to appear over the next few weeks. Well Terry was doing his show, lots of impressions, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Frankie Valli, in between Terry did his hat trick. (you'll have to see him for an explanation). his famous Thunderbirds act. Stevie Wonder, Eric Morecambe, Tommy Cooper and heaps more... You really must try catch Terry's act. Just Brilliant.. In a busy Admiral Duncan was a band called, The Kirby Beats from South Kirkby near Hemsworth. Three guitars and a drummer make up the band: This band were playing the music of the Beatles, Manfred Mann, The Small Faces, The Searchers, The Rolling Stones and The Dave Clark Five. Another great night in the, Admiral Duncan. I remember this band playing at the Boot And Shoe pub in Ackworth near Pontefract and Wakefield . Soft rock and covers is their thing, they were going well with the 'Duncan regulars. Hope they are booked back, a real friendly following too. Another First For Me,,,
I made a trip over to Libby's Club, (Formerly Garforth Liberal Club), in sunny Garforth to see my friend Bebe Dell's country music show. The music suits her style, in fact she can sing almost any style. (I'm waiting for her to break out into Opera). She was dressed in a western outfit, denim shorts, a waistcoat over a white blouse and, 'LTB', Her first song was a Karen Carpenter song, 'Sweet Sweet Smile' followed by 'I'm Out Of Here', a Shania Twain song. Then it was a Lonestar's song, 'Amazed'. I liked the Lynn Anderson song, 'Rose Garden'. It seems Beebi has lots of strings to her bow and can entertain virtually anywhere. Love it.. There were the line dancing moves 'Country Roads', went down with the members clapping along. 'You're Good Girls Gonna Go Bad' a Tammy Wynette favourite as was the next song, 'D.I.V.O.R.C.E'. Lots more followed. Billy Jo Spears and more from Tammy Wynette. I just saw the one 45 minutes set and loved every second. I called in at the, ‘The Top House Club’, (The Albion) in Hemsworth and
bumped into Craig Palmer. Craig is a solo performer these days as well as one half of the very popular P45’s. This duo will cease to exist at the end of 2014. Craig is already on the circuit now as a solo artiste as well as with the P45’s and has new stage name of, 'Craig Lee'. Craig has over 17 years experience on the club circuits and cruise ships, and is now booking as a solo artiste through, 'Ocean Leisure Entertainment', on 01226 720 732. It's Catherine Cooper In the 'Albion'. I hadn’t been in the Albion for a few months but I knew me old mate Kevin Kane would most likely be in and there and he was. Kevin was calling the bingo and was compere. I knew there was an artiste every Thursday nigh but had no idea who would be. I was pleasantly surprised to see the lovely Catherine Cooper; I saw her in Royston a week or so ago and loved her show. Tonight Catherine looked good in her stage wear, (like the shoes). Some of her songs tonight were, Doby Gray's, ‘Drift Away’, ‘The Noisettes, 'Never Forget You', ‘Don't Be Stupid’ a Shania Twain country song, Catherine used all the stage, well it's all of 6 x 4 feet and she is a tall girl. I had to stand on the stage to see eye to eye with her. More songs were, ‘Young ‘Hearts Run Free’ a Candy Staton hit, Catherine's set finished with one from Dirty Dancing, 'Hungry Eyes'. Keep up the excellent standard Catherine. And Not Forgetting.... See The Poster.

LUPSET LODGE SOCIAL CLUB
Sat.7.6.14 JIMMY ECHO Top Guitar Vocalist Sat 14.6.14 DARREN DALE Great Male Vocalist Sat.21.6.14 SHANE STEVENS Great Male Vocalist Sat.28.6.14 SAFFRON Top Young Female Vocalist Morley WMC.... The club was as busy as I have seen it on Wednesday nights. The entertainment was singer / comedian, Stuart Eden who was singing his first song when I arrived, 'The Love I Lost'. He continued his show with comedy. Stuart looked very smart in a shiny blue suit, white shirt and tie, like the shoes, (patent leather). Stuart can really sing, he has a great voice and is a very funny comic. He sang, 'Love Is All', in which the members joined in. He sang a la Shirley Bassey. This review would be twice as long but for his comedy; as you know is not repeated in here. The members were loving his jokes and innuendo. His next song was, 'If I Loved You', this was dedicated to Joe Longthorne who is very ill at the moment. Stuart closed the set with, 'The Prayer'. A good set Stuart Eden. Another exceptional evening at Gilly's Cmc, ‘Blue Horizon’, is a band from Darlington; they played to, a once again, packed house. In the club tonight was country fan of long standing John Kerr celebrating his 70th Birthday? So to give him a good night ‘Mag's’, Gilly's wife, put on a lovely buffet which everyone enjoyed. ‘Blue Horizon’ play country old and new .Just a few of their songs tonight were ‘Its Alright’ a Trisha Yearwood favourite, ‘Down To My Last Cigarette’, by Suzy Bogus and an old standard, ‘Today I Started Loving You Again’, by Merle Haggard. A nice mixture with great harmonies all round. The band line up is as follows, Christine Ringer, Lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Dave Harris, electric and acoustic guitar, mandolin lap steel guitar and vocal harmonies, he was a busy fellow, Mark Hopps on bass guitar and vocal harmonies with Chris Ringer, Christine's husband guesting on mandolin, guitar and vocals. This band was outstanding and as the band said the audience too was outstanding. ‘You could hear a pin drop’ it was said. Yes folks, another winner at GILLY’S CMC...
