Crigglestone welcomed Sheldon Bonner. Sheldon looked immaculate in a light grey suit, shirt and a sparkly tie. He has a superb voice, good sound equipment and a terrific personality. He opened his show with Gary Barlow's 'Let Me Go', followed by Billy Joel's, 'My Life'. The humour was good, the timing, excellent. 'Run-around Sue', the club wasn't full but there was a good atmosphere in the room created by Sheldon. There were songs by Bonnie Tyler, Gene Pitney and many others of different genres. I liked Billy Ray Cyrus's, 'Achy Breaky Heart', a complete change of style. Sheldon finished his first set with, 'I Still Ain't Found What I'm Looking For'. A good set Sheldon Bonner. Sheldon will be appearing at the prestigious Blackpool Command Show, in the Horseshoe bar in... Well.... Blackpool. The Spinoffs in Barnsley Central club.
Wow, what a busy Barnsley Central Club tonight, Pat and I came to see a new band called, The Spinoffs. The lead singer in the band is a good friend of ours, Hull singer, Andy Jay. He was a success at the Blackpool Command show in 2012 receiving an award. First on was our old friend, mr Bingo; a line was worth, £15 and the full house... Wait for it... £110 and 20p.Tonight he was with the band. The line up is guitarist, Luke Dickinson, the drummer is Stu Turner, the bass player is Alaisdar Simpson, and on keyboards is Nick Slack. I was warned that this is a LOUD band, (earplugs at the ready). The band looked good in their stage wear; the opening song was Cee Lo Greens, 'Forget You', the harmonies were superb, very tight and note perfect. There were Amy Winehouse songs, after being told how loud they were not too loud, easy on the ear. I liked the song, 'Domino'. Take That were featured with, 'Shine', more songs were, '9 Til 5', 'Sweet Home Alabama' and lots more. It was a pleasure to see, 'The Spinoffs' in concert, look out for them. The Spinoffs ended their first set with, 'Dakota', by the Stereophonics... Another club with a full house, the artiste here in Westgate Common club was the beautiful young singer, 'Lottie T'Vay'; the members were telling me that Lottie was doing a great show tonight and they were now ready for the dance set. Lottie came back on stage in a black fishtail dress, (like the shoes). The dance floor slowly filled up; the members were at the bar topping up then going for a dance. A couple of her songs were Pat Benata's, 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot' and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, 'I Love Rock And Roll' By this time the dance floor was well and truly buzzing. Well done Lottie T'Vay. Carlton Social Club:- March Entertainment

I have known Craig for a good few years now, ever since he moved into West Yorkshire from his home town of Hull. Craig was taking the place of John. Gillan who unfortunately had to cry off due to illness. He opened his show with a Tony Christie song, ‘Amarillo'.Craig's personality shone through from the first notes of his song. His songs. Included songs by Enrico Iglasius, including comedy. There followed a singing sketch of Take That, Brilliant. The impressions are superb. There was a Michael Buble song, 'I Just Haven't Met You Yet'. Another great set from Craig Harper'.I could go on but being a visual show you need to go and see Craig Harper your self... Madeleine Roberts In Albion Street WMC, (The Nash). The Nash was reasonably busy tonight in the concert room but there was a football match on television and the bar was very busy. Tonight the artiste on stage was the lovely Doncaster lady, Madeleine Roberts; she was wearing a short dress over black tights, like the sparkly shoes. Madeleine opened her show with a Queen song followed by one by Beatles . She has a good strong voice and a pleasant personality. There were songs from the 60's in a medley; the members were singing along to the sounds of the Rolling Stones, Amen Corner. Olly Murs Amy Winehouse and Showaddywaddy. An excellent entertainer, Madeleine Roberts. The Nash has installed some impressive stage lights recently and new furniture, the club has been decorated and it looks great. Madeleine’s partner in the popular duo Madkatz, Katalina, will be appearing here at the Nash shortly. Look out for her appearance; she is also a very good singer / entertainer... |
