I was at the Huddersfield and District Concert Secretaries Federation Command showcase tonight; my friends there included Stacey Rhodes who I met recently. Appearing on the show tonight were, Stacey. Steve Kenny, Toni, Ash To Ash and Kel Jordan.
First up was Stacey who looked lovely in her stage attire, LTS. She included one of my favourite songs, Emeli Sande’s 'Clowne'. I love her singing this song. There were many other songs in her impressive set. I said I wouldn’t reveal all her songs because she has something different to offer these days so it wouldn’t be fair would it?
Guitar / vocalist Steve Kenny was next on stage, he has a fine voice and was dressed in a very smart dark suit, he included in and a few rock and roll songs. Lenny closed his set with Frank Sinatra’s. 'That's Life',
Next was a young lady called, Toni, who sang in her set, ‘Valerie' and Shania Twain's, 'Man I Feel Like A Woman'. Toni's best song was Meatloaf's 'Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad'. Then ended her song with Labi Siffre's, ‘Something Inside So Strong'. Dedicated to her late sister.
After the interval and fund raising in aid of The Kirkwood Hospice. I had to leave for personal reasons.
I saw Lisa Barham in the club, Her husband Martin and daughter Rebecca were the rock duo, Ash to Ash. Sorry I was unable to stay and see them. I did get a call later from Stacey who told me the duo is very good. Some of their songs were,’Bed Of Roses’ and songs by Pink Floyd and AC / DC that went down well. I hope to return to this very friendly club, (Now I can find it)...
The last act was a guy called Kel Jordan who did a good job was the report when I got back home.
The fund raising realised over £400, well done Crosland Moor WMC.
