Worksop Miners Welfare Club was very busy last night; I went along with some of my friends to watch and listen, (Of course I took me pen and
notebook). The compere was Garry Desmond: he opened the show with a couple of one liners and sang a song about Ebay...
Garry introduced the first artiste, Richard York who was very smartly dressed for the stage in a suit, shirt and tie, (Lts). His opening song was Unchained Melody, what a powerful voice Richard has. He followed with songs of Freddie Mercury, The Righteous Brothers, Meatloaf and Tom Jones. An excellent opening spot from Richard York who is represented by the Steve Martin Agency.
Next was Tina Majors, a lady who has worked both at home and in
Benidorm. She has a good strong voice; she looked good in a white and flowered dress, (Lts). Some of her songs were by, Tina Turner, Celine Dion and Etta James. Tina is represented by the Big Star Agency...
Next was a smart looking young man, Joe Williams who has a good voice and sang songs by, Spandau Ballet, The Drifters, ‘Save The Last dance For
Me’, (the up tempo dance version), ‘Sex On Fire’ and ‘Summer Of ’69. Joe is
represented by The Dukeries agency.
Taking us into the break was an Ocean Leisure Agency Boy/Girl duo, Aurora. Again, well dressed for the stage, Lyndsey was dressed in a white glittery dress and a wide belt which added to the appearance; and yes, (Lts). Mark also looked casually smart in his outfit. Some of their songs were by Cher, Lady Gaga and Free’s, ‘Alright Now’. Mark plays a mean guitar and his solos were good along with his harmonies...
Garry Desmond opened the second part of the show with a couple of one liners. One really tickled comedian, Big G, who was in the audience.
Garry introduced father and son duo, Vegas Duo. The son, Jack is a great guitarist as was demonstrated in the Queen medley, ‘Easy Like Sunday
Morning’ was another great number which showed off dad Andy’s voice. I had to answer a call of nature so I missed a couple of the other songs. what I did hear I liked very much. Vegas are represented by the Angle Agency...
The next act was a beautiful young lady, Sandra Dee; she looked terrific in a Toga like outfit in white, her hair is amazing, (which is something I don’t usually comment on because all the girls I have seen in the clubs usually have nice hair styles.), (Lts). Sandra has a voice that can really hit the high notes. A couple of her songs were Belinda Carlisle’s, ‘Leave A Light On For Me’ and Sam Brown’s, ‘Stop’. Sandra is represented by the Ash agency...
Represented by the Ricky Graham agency, John Fitzpatrick was the next act; John was very smart in black trousers and shirt and a cream jacket and patent leather shoes...
He opened his spot with Matt Monro’s, ‘How Do You Do’ walking amongst the audience shaking hands, an excellent opening that went down well with the audience. A couple of his songs were, ‘Larger Than Life’ and a Westlife
song, ‘I Wanna Grow Old With You’., (I really like that song)...
The final act was a Hull band represented by the Steve Martin Agency, The Mister Men, a four piece band consisting of Russ X on lead vocals, Dave Barton on keyboards, Dave Walkington on drums and another Dave on guitar. A very tight band with excellent musicians. Some of their songs were by, Meatloaf, Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder. Superb harmonies.
An excellent show which finished a bit on the late side... But I Enjoyed It..
It was great to meet Tany and Norma from the Dukeries agency, Steve Martin, Paul and Craig from the Ash Entertainments and people I hadn't seen for years...
Because I couldn't get all the pictures and there were two changes in the
to the cast, I have reposted the original poster; The changes were Richard York in the place of Paul Michaels and Joe Williams in the place of Chris Carr...
