0n Saturday night at Westgate Common club, I saw a three piece Liverpool band called Touch Down; it was my first viewing of this superb (and I mean superb) band. Advertised as a Shakin’ Stevens and Elvis Presley show, I was pleasantly surprised when they sang the songs of lots of other artistes. Owen Pauls,‘You’re My Favourite Waste Of Time, The Four Tops song, ‘She Was My Girl’, Roy Orbison’s, ‘You Got It’, Shakin Stevens, Marie – Marie and, A Love Worth Waiting For’. There was Paul Leyton on Keyboards, The beautiful Lisa Paulson on 3 keyboards, she also looked after the sound and lights and added the harmonies to lead singer Phil King’s songs. I just loved Lisa’s version of Dionne Warwick and Friends, ‘That’s What Friends Are For’ in which she was accompanied by Paul on Harmonica; that was marvellous; what a lovely voice Lisa has. I could go on about this band that has, (I was told by concert secretary, Les Turfrey), appeared at Westgate three times now. I look forward to seeing them again. Touch Down...
