This was the first of the monthly open band nights with the Scratch Band. As I walked in they sang a new song, 'Let Me Go'.
For those who don't know the band, they are Wakefield based and have been on the circuit for around 24 years. The line up is Stuart Wade on bass guitar and vocals, Steve Mounsey on guitar and vocals, Mick Larrad on guitar and vocals, Greg Hant on guitar and Martin Tagg on drums and vocals. A Travelling Wilburys song was, 'The End Of The Line'. The harmonies in this were very impressive, nice and tight. In the second part there are singers who are invited to, 'Give Us Song Or Two.
The club was fairly busy which is encouraging. I hope they can keep it going every third Friday of the month. Singers I saw in the room were Stan The Man, Jim and Mandy Santana and few more. More songs from the band were, 'Black Magic Woman' 'You've Got Your
Troubles'.'Unchain My Heart', a Joe Cocker song. 'Handle With Care', another of the Travelling Wilburys songs.
The first victim, sorry, volunteer was Stan The Man who has a smashing voice, a great personality, he sang 'I Knew The Bride' and 'Take It Easy'. 9/10 Stan. Then we had, The King, Jim Santana who sang, 'One Night''
and 'Blue Suede Shoes'. On stage with Jim was Ben on rhythm
guitar.who plays in Jimes Midnight Vegas Band. Hey, Ben can sure play a guitar. Well folks. as I have already said, It was encouraging to see a busy club and not only the concert room; heres hoping this night with the Scratch band can take off. If you would like to sing a couple of songs with the band, just turn up on Fiday February 21st. Let the band know what you would like to sing; it has to be with the band playing for you, no recorded music please... See You There...
