Normanton Mayor’s Charity Show…
The Normanton St’Johns Terrace Club had a good house for the Normanton Mayors Annual Charity Show. There were Mayors and Mayoresses and their deputies from Wakefield and South Kirkby in attendance to support the charities of Diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease and local charities.
The compere was, Jonathan Carroll who opened the show with a song, (Get Ready); he introduced the first act ‘Jazz’ who is the Mayor’s grand daughter. She looked really modern in a leotard covered by a lace dress. A couple of her songs were, ‘The Rhythm Is Gonna Get You and Poker Face’. Nice voice and a good presentation. The next act was the two sisters, ‘Just Us’. Charley and Ellie Stirling looked great in their stage attire; the voices are excellent and there were some very good harmonies. they each sang a couple of solo songs and together in harmony they sang, ‘Relight My Fire and Human’. Well done girls…
In the interval was the raffle with heaps of prizes, (I actually won a Cool Box).and a Dutch Auction. A couple of “BINGO” games and then on with the show.
Jonathan who worked like a Trojan opened the second half of the show with the Luther Van Dross song, ‘Dance With My Father’. He introduced young singer Lucas Primmer to the stage who looked very smart in a suit and shirt and tie. Lucas has a fine voice and sang in his set, ‘This Is My Life’ and ‘Red’ amongst many other great songs.
The final act was Trevor Craig who looked very smart. Trevor has a tremendously strong voice and controlled vibrato. He sang n his set, ‘Love Can Build A Bridge’ and the song I love to hear him sing, ‘ Miss You Nights’, (Move over Sir Cliff), that has to be the best version I have ever heard of this song.
An excellent show with a great sound provided by ‘The Steve Paige sound’. Well done to everyone who took part whether performing or supporting
It was good to see Lee Lambert supporting the show; he showed me his new shoes, (Like The Metallic Silver Shoes Lee). Abbi James was there too, she won the Dutch Auction, a mini electric sewing machine.
Pictures; Jazz. Just Us, Lucas Primmer, Trevor Craig, Jonathan Carroll , Oh and [The Shoe Man] Lee Lambert...
