Charity Show In Aid Of Cancer Research.
The Horse & Jockey in Horbury near Wakefield held a charity show on Wednesday night; I had called in to see how Karen was getting on with her pub. She works like a trouper to raise money for this charity. Artistes giving their time free were, Jim Santana who was in good form; some of his songs were, ‘Hound Dog’, ‘In the Ghetto’ and a fantastic version of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’. Karen King was there and looked lovely in her outfit, Lts, in her set Karen sang, ‘When You Tell Me That You Love Me’, ‘Never – Never – Never’ and a nice version of,‘Unchained Melody’. Karen told us that her mum, Beryl, is poorly with cancer. I hope she gets well real soon. There were two more acts in the pub who were there to help the charity, which was
compered by Marty Jones, but I was unable to stay, they were Trevor Craig, an
outstanding young singer and Andy Lloyd who performs a terrific Cliff Richard tribute show. Karen called and told me that Andy both gave a good show... although there were only about 20 in the pub I’m sure they raised a fair amount of money...£82 which is excellent in a small place like, 'THE HORSE & jOCKEY!
It was good to see Trevor Craig there supporting the show; he has done a few shows here in the past and helped raise the much needed cash for cancer Research.
