Terry McEvoy Retires.
An old friend of mine, Terry McEvoy hung up his butcher’s apron yesterday after being in the butchers’ trade for nigh on 50 years, he ran his own butchers shop in Normanton for many years and was christened, Mr Normanton, such is his popularity. Terry was a founder member of the 50’s rock and roll band, The Jack O’ Diamonds... in the picture you can see Terry on tea chest bass, (a tea chest attached to a brush handle with a piece of string). The rock and roll band was very successful in and around theWakefield area, They went on to bigger things after they were seen on the Carroll Levis discovery show on television. Terry's retirement is a sad loss to Normanton but I wish Terry and his lovely wife Sylvia a very happy retirement...
