Johnny Steele at Townville.
Johnny came on stage in black trousers, a bright red jacket, black shirt and
matching tie. Pls. Johnny has a very good sound and lights system. His song style is Motown and soul and was formerly in a duo called, 'Inspiration'. And just to confound me sang some swing songs, 'Come Fly With Me'. Though very young there were dancers on the floor from the off. Even some country music, there was a Motown medley which was enjoyable and a couple of Elvis Presley song. A good set Johnny Steele..
Over in the Prince Of Wales club was Kenny Francis who was going well with the
members; I was there for his second set, and what a lovely voice he has; he opened
with,'Beautiful Noise', a Neil Diamond, there was Frank Sinatra's,'I Will Drink The Wine'. Kenny's sound system is terrific and not over loud. I liked Kenny's version of, 'I Just Haven't Met You Yet', I was told that Kenny did a couple of impressions in his first set, there was Joe Longthorne and The Walker Brothers. Back to this set he sang, 'Save The Last Dance For Me' in an up tempo style. 'Daydream Believer',and 'Can't Take My
Eyes Off You', in the Andy Williams style. These songs were just a sample of Kenny's repertoire, great stuff Kenny Francis. An encore was Roy Orbison's, 'California Blue'. I thoroughly enjoyed His Show...
