Yet another Success for BeardSmith.
Netherton Sports & Social Club, (to give the club its proper name) was quite busy on Sunday afternoon. Mick McGinley was there with his disco/karaoke show for which there were plenty of Victims, (Sorry, Singers). Mick introduced the family band of the moment, BeardSmith; the entire family was ready for a great afternoon. Lots of new songs and plenty of the crowds favourites. Yes, another success...
Mick has booked Jim Santana for Sunday February 26th so I suggest you get there early for a seat...Mick is at the club every Friday night with his karaoke show... Come on and give us a song...
Hopetown Welcomes Victoria...
I saw Victoria Francis recently at Albion Street WMC (The ‘Nash’),where she was singing to her backing tracks; I wanted to see her with live backing and wasn’t disappointed when I saw her at a busy Hopetown Liberal club. She looked stunning in a blue cocktail dress and LTS. In her first set she sang, ‘You’re My World’, this was an up tempo version, ‘Nine To Five’, ‘At Last’,this was a tribute to the late Etta James who died recently and ‘Don’t Stop Believing’.I sat and had a chat with Victoria and her mum, Carol; they told me that her trio, the Angelettes were attracting some interest after a showcase last week, I saw them and they are very good.
In her second set Victoria appeared in a sort red dress, again she was stunning. She sang, ‘The Happening’. A Supremes song and ‘Kiss Me Honey-Honey’. A lovely lady and a lovely singer...
Dave Hill at The Ex-Servicemen’s Club.
Another busy club in Pontefract’s where Dave Hill was the singer/entertainer. He doesn’t just sing, he adds a touch of humour into his show’ I just caught Dave’s second set as I walked into the club; he was singing songs by Neil Diamond, ‘Love On The Rocks’, ‘I Who Have Nothing’ in the Tom Jones style, well he does have a very powerful voice, ‘Walking In Memphis’ and one from Phantom Of The Opera, ‘Bring Him Home’. I remember Dave standing in at one of my shows at Wakefield Theatre Royal a few years ago when someone was unable to appear and he went down a real treat. I have seen him singing really strong ballads without the aid of a microphone. Dave is a good ’un...
