Skellow Grange WMC...
This is a club that I don’t ever remember visiting but a call from a friend assured me that I have back in my band days. Off I went wondering what to expect, when I arrived I found it was a night with Vocaltutor students doing a show; I saw a few of the girls doing their stuff on stage. This is a massive stage and a very impressive concert room; some great lights and large dressing rooms. The first girl I saw was show presenter, Rose; she introduced Lauren Rosso who has quite nice voice and sang, ‘Valerie’ and ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’. Lauren looked good in her stage outfit, (Lts)...
Lauren was followed by a young lady with a lovely voice, ‘Justine’. She sang just a couple of songs, The Corrs, ‘Runaway’ and a song called, ‘Stay‘. She too looked great in her stage wear, Lts.
The next girl was Bianca who was casually dressed; she has a nice voice and sang, ‘Ironic’and a super version of ‘Fever’.
The next young singer was Kloe, (Her spelling), Kloe sang an Elton John song, ‘Your Song’.
Alexandra was the next singer, she has a very strong and well controlled voice; I saw her last year in a talent competition and she reminded me of a junior competition in Barnsley when she reached the final. Well Alexandra has made great strides and he voice is really good. Her stage outfit was good, (Lts). A couple of her songs were, ‘Somebody To Love’ , (with the long note) and ‘Forget You’.
Well time was against me and I had promised to be elsewhere so I took my leave; I did enjoy the show though...
I was just in time to see Red at Alverthorpe club; Steve and Debbie will be parting company in June so it was probably the last time I could see Brad and Debbie Dee together; Debbie is going off to be a solo artiste, I think she will be successful. I was in time for the dance set and although the club wasn’t full, there were plenty of dancers. A couple of the songs were, ‘There’s a Heartache Tonight’ and ‘I Just Can’t Get Enough’.Brad has a new partner who will be starting in early June, though it will be sad to see Debbie go I am looking forward to seeing Brad’s new partner...
