Pontefract Ex - service men's club welcomed John Fitzpatrick on Sunday night; as always John was immaculately attired for the stage. He opened with a Matt Monro song called! 'How Do You Do' to introduce himself to the members. The club was very busy and looking round everyone was closely listening to his rich voice. A Clarence Frogman Henry song followed. Billy Fury, Craig Douglas, (lts). The members were singing along to Julie Rogers, 'The Wedding'. The comedy was going down well. Red went down a treat, 'Here Comes My Baby’. there were songs from the days of Frank Sinatra, David Whitfield and many more. 'Working Man' brought some memories to few ex - miners in the club. In his second set John showed more of his comedic side as well as keeping up the standard of the music. Many members told me they liked his style; some of his songs were by The Tremeloes, Elvis Presley, Albert Pilkington, (A little known entertainer). Pans People came to the dance floor (Who?). There was a spoof Penny Arcade song, Billy Joel and Englebert Humperdinck were featured. I loved the Neil Sedaka song, 'The Miracle Song'. A good night for John Fitzpatrick.
