Tonight we are in Sharlston ARLFC.
I say we because we have brought my sister Carol with us tonight, she doesn't get out much you know. The band tonight is, Vinyl Legacy; Trevor Midgley, keyboards, guitar and mandolin, Trevor Sergeant, lead guitar, Norman Smith, bass guitar, Mick Curry on Drums and John on guitar are the musicians in the band. Always very smart great personalities; super harmonies and the songs of yester year we like to hear; well I am 27ish you know. Vinyl Legacy were playing to a full house tonight which was good to see.
The first song was a Beatles hit, 'Nowhere Man', 'When Will I Be Loved', from the Everley Brothers 'Sorry Suzanne' from the Hollies. Carol was listening to the band for the first time and in her words, ‘Brilliant'. The songs of the Hollies, Beatles, Gerry And The Pacemakers. Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney were featured.. 'Everybody Gonna Dance Around Tonight’; there was Fleetwood Mac’s, ‘Albatross'. Wow, as close to the original as I have ever heard. I liked Manfred Mann's, 'Pretty Flamingo'. More Shadows, the first set closed with, 'The Letter’. A Box Tops hit...
Set two:- Vinyl Legacy continued where they left off. In fine form with, Yes I Will'. Continuing with songs by The Hollies, one for Mr T, 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain'. It has to be said, every guitarist in the band is good enough to be lead guitarist, the Eagles were featured as were, The Kinks. More from the Beatles. At this point we have a lone dancer on the floor, the lady is really going for it. Now the floor is filling up.Well done Vinyl Legacy.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Another full house at the ' Admiral Duncan' pub in Wakefield. The band tonight is Fiery Biscuit a five piece band ,from Huddersfield. Lead vocals, lead guitarist, bass, drummer, lead guitar, keyboards. A good sound and a good lead vocalist. ‘Rock DJ Move Like Jagger’,, ‘Sex On Fire’, ‘Centrefold’ and Foot Loose were just a few of their songs. A good rock band playing covers... for an encore they ended the night with a great version of, ‘Handbags And Glad Rags', a Stereophonics favourite. And, another I like a lot.....
Next Saturday it's ‘Loaded’. Another great band Be There...
