The Willow Park Social club was buzzing and it had a nice feeling tonight; there were five acts auditioning and each one was quite good.
The first to audition was a lovely young lady from Leeds with a terrific voice called, Carrie-Ann Wilson. She has a very good sound system. Carrie looked great in a short black dress and patterned tights. (Lts)... in her set she sang, Connie Francis’s,
‘Stupid Cupid’, ‘Time After Time’ in the Eva Cassidy style and ‘Black Velvet’. During her set Carrie introduced Gerry, a singer who duetted with her in ‘Endless Love’. There were many more songs but I think you get the picture of her extensive repertoire.
Second was a father and daughter Duo called D + D. Austin, also from Leeds; Austin, the father has a good voice and opened their show with Bobby Vee’s, ‘More Than I Can Say’ and Nat King Cole’s, ‘Let There Be Love’. He introduced his daughter Courtney on stage who looked good in her outfit, (Lts)... Courtney has a lovely voice and sang in her set, a Eurhythmics number ‘Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This’, the M People’s ‘Moving On Up’ and ‘Something Inside so Strong’ and many more. This young lady has a wonderful voice and I wish her well’
Act three was Billy Daydream; you may know this gentleman who worked in Benidorm with Gail, his beautiful wife for many years. What a professional he is, he was dressed in an orange jacket over a black waistcoat, white shirt and black trousers. Billy has a good sound system and a good voice; his presentation was wonderful to see. Some of his songs were, ‘Hey Rock And Roll’, Just A Gigolo’, ‘I Don’t Want To Talk About It’ and a favourite song of mine, ‘Handbags And Gladrags. Well done Billy Daydream...
The Aztec Duo, man and wife John and Karen from Wakefield was next on the show; they looked good in matching black and white outfits. The sound, lights and their music were excellent and the voices, wonderful! They opened their set with the Searchers; ‘When You Walk In The Room’ Karen went on to sing, ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ with some great harmonies from John. Aztec finished their set with Cheryl Cole and Gary Barlow’s ‘Need You Now’. Well done John and Karen who are Aztec..
The final act tonight was Lorna Bursell from Huddersfield; Lorna looked great in her stage outfit, a black and white dress, (Lts). Lorna has a lovely voice and sang in her set ‘River Deep Mountain High, ‘Grenade’ by Bruno Mars, Aretha Franklin’s, ‘Say A Little Prayer’, Cindy Lauper’s ‘True Colours’.Lorna finished her excellent show with
Jessie J’s, ‘Price Tag’. Well done Lorna...
