Ricky Graham Auditions at The Willows Club in Pontefract was quiet tonight; there were three acts auditioning.
The first was Knaresborough singer, Christian Scott. He was immaculate in appearance, he has a good easy listening voice and sang in his set Bobby Darin’s, ‘Mack The Knife’, a good opener, more of his songs were by, Matt Monro, Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond and P.J. Proby’s, ‘Somewhere’,A good set Christian.
The next act was Lee Jon who I am told is the son of a man who was a singer with the Fortunes band back in the 1960’s.
Lee has a good voice and is a very smartly dressed man. In his set he sang one of the Walker Brother’s songs, ‘The Sun Ain’t ‘Gonna Shine Anymore’. I liked that one very much. More of his songs were by Michael Buble, Etta James, ‘At Last’, Roy Orbison and a great song by Mike And The Mechanics, ‘Eyes Of Blue’. Good set Lee...
Last but not least we saw Darren Sowden from Grimsby also looking very smart; Darren has a fine voice and a wide range of songs that included, Michael Buble’s, ‘Cry Me A River’, There was a Queen medley, Stevie Wonder was featured as was Elvis Presley and The Monkees. For me Darren’s best song was Snow Patrol’s, ‘Chasing Cars’.
Well, three acts and not a lot watching despite posters in the club and surrounding shops. Come on members, support your club...
