The Willows Social Club in Pontefract was very busy tonight; the last Thursday of the month is Ricky Graham Leisure agency auditions night. Tonight there was a surprise waiting for me; on stage was a lady called
“Lady Garden”who was actually, ‘Sonya’. She was dressed in a Red and White dress with a jacket. LTS, (I think). *Lady Garden* (Sonya), opened her show with Lady Gaga’s, ‘Bad Romance’, followed by Celine Dion’s, ‘I’m Alive’. There followed a flurry of one liners and comical observations, I won’t repeat any you will have to catch her show, (You can book Sonya, [*Lady Garden* through the Ricky Graham Leisure agency, 01977 673500}... Sonya’s best song was, ‘Sweet Child Of Mine’. I would pay good money to see this amazing lady; she has a voice to die for. Sonya has been living in Nottingham, but has now returned to us in 'Sunny Yorkshire'. Welcome back love and well done on the night...
The next act was a young man from Castleford called Rubix; he was smartly dressed in a dark suit, shirt and tie; he has a good voice and his music was largely from the 80’s. The songs of ABC, Spandau Ballet, Human League, Heaven 17, King and Frankie Goes to Hollywood... a good set from Rubix...
Our next auditionee was a lovely looking young lady, Bradford’s Gabriella, (No, not that one)... she was dressed in a short skirt and a black glittering top, (Lts). Her voice and her PA is good too. Some of her songs were, ‘My Guy’, ‘Next To Me’, ‘It’s In His Kiss’ and ‘Get Ready’. Well done Gabriella...
The final act tonight was Martin McGuire from Hemsworth looking very smart in a sharp suit, shirt and tie... again, a good PA and a good voice...some of his songs, [in between the one liners were, a medley of Paper Lace songs, ‘Billy Don’t Be A Hero’ and ‘The Night Chicago Died’. There was a Drifters song, ‘Save The Last Dance For Me’ and a George Formby song in a modern way, ‘When I’m Cleaning Windows... a very entertaining set from Martin McGuire... .... See you Next Month...At The Willows Social Club in Pontefract...
