Vickers Street Club was busy when I called in tonight to see Natalie Wilson, What a voice this young lady has. Her stage wear was excellent too, like the shoes. Some if her songs were, 'If I Can't Have You I Don’t Nobody Baby'. A Sweetbox song "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow', A Shirelles song. 'Heaven Must Have Sent You', the Supreme's version, Connie Francis's, 'Stupid Cupid', 'All Cried Out', an Alison Moyet hit. It was good to see young Lauren the dancer her sister Emilie on the floor. Two lovely dancers! Natalie closed her set with Emile Sande's, 'Next To Me'. A brilliant set from Natalie Wilson. It was also good to see Kevin Davit here tonight; I remember him from his pub in Allerton Bywater. As always, the two ladies on the bar, Sarah and Leanne. Two lovely ladies with great personalities... Glasshoughton WMC. The club is a trifle quiet tonight, there are lots of people away on their holidays. The artiste tonight is Tony Lee, vocal / instrumentalist. He looks very smart in a suit and shirt, minus the jacket; (The heat you know). Tony has a good PA system, a good voice and his first song was a Travis song, 'Why Does It Always Rain On Me', he's a bit of a comic too. His next song was an Ed Shearing song, 'Thinking Out Loud'. I don't know this one but Tony sang it well. Some from the 60's starting with Acker Bilk's, 'Stranger On The Shore', played on the saxophone, liked this one. There. Were many more, Tony was doing a fine job here at Glasshoughton WMC. *************************************** On to a very busy Girnhill Lane Wmc to see a two girl duo, 'Seventh Heaven’; two lovely girls who look great in blue sequinned tops over black wet look tights. Like the shoes, two lovely voices in good harmony, a few of the songs we heard were Boney M’s, ‘By The Rivers Of Babylon', Peter Andre’s ‘Mysterious Girl', Abba’s 'Mama Mia', The Mamas and Papa’s 'California Dreaming', Depeche Mode’s, ‘I Just Can't Get Enough,', the last one in the set was another Abba song, 'Does Your Mother Know', I didn’t get a chance to have a chat with the two girls but I certainly liked their show.. Seventh Heaven... ************************************** The Admiral Duncan was very busy tonight when we arrived, (there was a bus load of youngsters in). The band tonight was a local band, Red Dog There was a lead guitar, bass guitar, a drummer and lead vocalist and guitar. I managed to pick out the title of a few of their songs, 'I'm Gonna Be A Rock Star'. 'I'm A Cowboy Dead Or Alive', 'Put Your Hats On', 'Mustang Sally',' Proud Mary', lots more followed and the crowd lapped it up. Red Dog is a good band, a trifle on the heavy side for me but then I'm 72, I can still appreciate good music and Red dog play Good Music. Appearing Next Friday August 8th here in the Admiral Duncan is a band from Barcelona called, Stop Stop. They are on a tour and I am told, DO NOT MISS "STOP STOP", they are VERY GOOD... Stop Stop appeared here in the Admiral Duncan Last year and were a great success. On Friday November 28th, By popular demand it's, 'THE SOLICITORS'... Don't Miss this great band... Again they are always a success here in the Admiral Duncan.. See YOU there? Our Saturday night started at Cutsyke WMC; we were there early doors and there were just a few members in. Looking at the posters on the walls in and outside the club, the club seems to be doing well which is a good sign. The entertainment tonight was Carrie Michaels, I know I saw her recently but Pat was away on a day trip. Soooo here we are again happy as can be, all good Friends an.... well you know the rest of that song! Carrie appeared on stage in a floor length gold sequinned gown, Like the shoes. Carrie opened her first set with, 'I Wish I Knew You Before'. She has either added more songs or some I haven't heard her sing before like the one she is singing right now Sam Cooke's, 'Cupid'. Carrie has an excellent rapport with her audiences and tonight is no exception. I love to hear her sing, Shirley Bassey's, 'As I Love You'. The Carpenters, The Pussycat Dolls, 'Sway', and Gloria Gaynor's, 'I Am What I Am’. now this next song is one of Carrie's best, another Shirley Bassey song, 'This Is My Life', the feeling and the emotion is top class. The set ended with, 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You'. An Andy Williams hit ..Jeanie, Carrie's mum was in fine voice with the harmonies and is very good with the sound system too. Friday night at the Boot & Shoe. *************************** LIVE AT THE WHINNEY MOOR.
