The Blackpool Command Preview Show.
The Prince Of Wales WMC was a bit on the quiet side tonight,(Thursday 17th October).
There were 4 hopeful artistes on stage,(One didn’t turn up) each hoping to be chosen to appear at The Horseshoe Bar on Blackpool's famous pleasure beach. The opening act was The lovely Amy Thomas, she looked good in a long black fishtail dress, Lts! Amy's first song was 'Nine Times Out Of Ten', followed by Billy Ocean's' 'Red Light Spells Danger' Amy's voice and performance is improving each time I hear and see her. I was most impressed with her version of 'Babe', a Styx song. Dobie Gray's 'Out On The Floor', Elkie Brooks, 'We Don't Cry Out Loud'. Amy's finished her set with You’re The Best Thing That Ever Happened', a Gladys Knight hit...
Next up was Second Journey looking very smart in black suits and shirts with red ties, their first song was the Killers 'Human' in perfect harmony followed by Billy Ocean’s 'Love Really Hurts', a Bruno Mars hit ,'Just The Way You Are'. Meatloaf's 'Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad’. Second Journey's last song was Journey's, 'Don't Stop Believing'. Another great set from Second Journey.
The next artiste was Little Sam Lyons from Barnsley; (I'm taller than her). Sam opened her set with, 'Mr Rock And Roll', an Ami McDonald song. Sam looked great in short yellow dress, (Ltb). A good sound, good stage presence and personality. Sam continued with Karen Carpenter's 'Superstar' and on to a nice country song. 'Have You Ever Been Lonely. Avery good mix of songs from this lady. there was. 'Hurt', a Timi Yuri recording. 'Why Do Fools Fall In Love' By Frankie Lyman and The Teenagers song, and 'Stand By Me' was Sam's last song...
The final act was Dance Nation from Sheffield. Two excellent singers in harmony. A lead vocalist and a tom toms player who also harmonised. The opening song was Robbie Williams, 'Candy', followed by 'I Never Knew Love Like This Before'. 'We Built This City', by Starship.'Sex On Fire' went down well, 'Build Me Up Buttercup', A Foundations top ten hit from the 60's, next was 'I Just Want You To Dance With Me', an Olly Murs song, The encore was, 'You Give Love A Bad Name', a Bon Jovi song.
Its a pity there were so few tonight but there were quite a few functions going on in the area.
The next Preview show is at Glasshoughton WMC, Leeds Road, Castleford. See you there.
