I recently had a call from respected singer/entertainer, Sheldon Bonner who told me about a band called, ’Touch’. They were playing at the Round Hegian’s sports club in Leeds on Saturday night. Sheldon had previously played with the band and has been asked to come back and play a few more gigs with them. Playing In the band is a gentleman called Peter Nota who recently lost his lovely wife, Angela, to Cancer; in fact the funeral was on Wednesday (8th of June) and she had insisted before she passed away that the show should go ahead.
The band did this show in aid of 'Help The Heroes'. The band’s line up is, Sheldon Bonner, lead vocalist, Peter Nota on lead guitar, Paul Brown on bass guitar, Steve Batty on Keyboards and Rod Fearnley on drums. 'Touch' has already done three previous shows, Two for cancer Research and one for St. Gemma’s Hospice where Angela was looked after by the caring nurses. These shows raised in excess of £5,000 with the band playing absolutely Free Of Charge. I will go further and say the band, ‘Touch’ is a superb band and I look forward to seeing them again.
Well the sound was amazing and the music, brilliant, I have seen Sheldon in the clubs and he seems to be able to turn his hand to anything. The first set was the older music which included, ‘Reaching Out For Something, Summer Of ’69, Here I Go Again On My Own and It’s My Life’. Hannah Nota, Angela and Peter's daughter snag a couple of songs, one was Adele's,'Someone Like You'. What a lovely voice Hannah has and I'm sure Angela and Peter are very proud of her......
I hope to get a picture of Touch at a later date....
I was informed that the amount raised on the night was in excess of £1,500 making a total of over £6,500. Well done you guys...
Thank you Sheldon, for inviting Pat and I.
