Willow Park Social Club.
It's the last Thursday of November and that means Ricky Graham Leisure
Audition Night.
The first act was Barnsley guitar vocalist, Top Cat, (Steve). He is here from
Corfu. He was very smartly dressed. His first song was, 'Unchain My Heart'
he has a good strong voice with a growl in it, suitable for this song.
An Eagles song was Lying Eyes, Steve is pretty good on guitar too.
Up next was, Joanne Perez from Sheffield, dressed in a short sequinned purple tasselled dress, like the shoes, Joanne has quite a nice voice and opened her set with, 'Sway', a Sugar Babes hit. her PA system is good, I liked her song, 'Closes Thing To Crazy', a good set from Joanne Perez. There was an Adele song, ‘To Make You Feel My Love', she closed her set with an ABBA Medley. An encore was an Amy Winehouse song, 'Valerie'.
Coming up next is Cooler King from Leeds, a four piece band who Opened with a Chuck Berry song from the early 60s, 'No Particular Place To Go', 'You Never Can Tell'. A good lively band with some good humour in the show.
They played one of my favourite instrumentals, the Safaris, 'Wipeout'.
Yes, a good band ready for the clubs I would say. Lots more from this band,
'Cooler King’. The last song was Dire Straits, 'The Sultans Of Swing'.
Next up was Castleford's Selina Scott who has lovely voice. She looked good
in her stage outfit, her voice is excellent which showed as she sang Whitney
Houston’s, 'I Have Nothing'. The top notes are well within her range.
She introduced her dad who lives in Orlando; they sang, 'Don't Stop Believing'. He too has an outstanding voice I would say in the light tenor range. They sang, in harmony, 'A Whole New World'. A song from a Disney film.
T Dog, from Leeds was the final act tonight, this is a three piece band with three guitars and a drum machine. The opening song was, 'Proud Mary','Twist And Shout', and 'I Saw Her Standing There', the last song was a Rolling Stones song, 'Satisfaction'. A good end to the night.
I have just the one picture, another coming tomorrow.
