Tonight I intend to visit Pontefract Sports And Social Club.
The artiste on stage tonight is, John Gillan, comedy/ vocalist supreme. He is the guest comedian on the Blackpool Command show on April 10th. Normally I would advise you to get your tickets but they are all sold out. Yes, John Gillan is the artiste tonight; He opened his show with, 'Unchain My Heart', a terrific version of Joe Cocker's chart hit from a few years ago. on to comedy. None of John's jokes here folks, he went on to sing a Gene Pitney song, 'I'm Gonna Be Strong'. What a voice and he excelled with an Eric Clapton song, 'Bad Love'. A good set from John Gillan; but, that wasn't the end, john went on to call the bingo, with hilarious results. Some of the numbers I didn't recognise, for example, mushy peas, number 3'.
In set two John opened with a Platters song, 'My Prayer', loved this one. He went through songs of different styles, Country, Chart, Operatic and the 50/60s era. As the concert chairman said, "He's Gone a down a treat tonight. John is to sing with the great Andre Bocelli in a Show in
Birmingham in May of this year. After his comedy he sang an I'l Divo song. Yet another great set.
