The Ladybalk club in Pontefract was quite busy when I called in; on stage was Pontefract lady Lucie Jackson who was married two weeks ago!
Congratulations Lucie.
She was dressed in a short black dress over black tights, loved her shoes. Lucie opened her first set with a James Brown song, 'Do You Like Good Music', followed by a good mix of songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's. I liked her renditions of 'Perfect' and 'Pearls A Singer' .
I had thought a few months ago that this club was closing; Malcolm Cunningham who was in the very successful comedy duo, Funnybones', with his brother Brian, is now the secretary and has helped revive the clubs fortunes. Artistes are engaged every Friday night. Great to see a club is doing well when others around are having a bit of a struggle.
