Flash Back...
Ossett Central Club is where I saw this super band from York. They play quite often in the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool. Tonight they were playing to a very busy club here in Ossett Central Club in the Eddie Irvine suite, (The Concert Room). Kevin, on bass guitar, Pete on guitar and Steve on drums. The opener was, 'Twist And Shout', a Beatles song. Songs by The Rolling Stones It's All over Now' . A super Sound from the Mersey Sound. 'All Amy Loving', The Beatles, 'Sorrow', The Merseyes. Real Nostalgia from, Flash Back. The Who's, 'Substitute'. Billy 'J' Kramer's, 'Do You Want To Know A Secret'. They ended the first lesson, sorry, set, with The Dave Clark Five's, 'Glad All Over'. Great music from, 'Flash Back'.
On to Westgate Common to hear the voices of Marty and Sam who are '2Smart'. We timed it right for their second set which they opened with the Everly Brothers, 'Cathy's Clown' this attracted dancers, the dancers who stayed on the floor for a Drifters Medley. Excellent harmonies from both dad and son. I liked the Gene Pitney song, 'Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart'. Another medley but this time a Roy Orbison medley. A nice sing - along to David Whitfield's, 'Cara Mia'.The set closed with another Everley Brothers song, 'Let It Be Me'. Another good show from 2Smart..
Another full house at the Admiral Duncan on Saturday night. It was the Scratch Band's Christmas party, plenty of food and drink and a happy crowd. Plenty of volunteer singers, Stan The Man, Ginner, Sound man Mick Linskey, former band member, Martin Ramsden, Gilly and more; a good sound, a good night was had by all...
