Little Sam Lyons and Kim Brodie appeared as Freshly Squeezed at a charity show in Doncaster’s Hyde Park club on Thursday, [21st April]. The club was pretty busy when I arrived; also on the show was a young man called Harrison Scott. There was to have been another female act but unfortunately she was unable to appear. The show was opened by Harrison who looked very smart on stage; he has a pleasant voice and chose some good songs; his best songs for me were from the swing era. ‘Cry Me A River’, ‘Ain’t that A Kick In The Head’ and ‘That’s Life’.
There was a raffle in which about 100 prizes had been donated, [I didn’t win one, and yes! I did buy some tickets],
After a couple of bingo games it was time for, “Freshly Squeezed”, Sam and Kim would go to the ends of the Earth in the name of Charity. They always look good great on stage; their sound and lights systems are second to none and they know how to use them. ‘On A Mission’ is their opening song because these two lovely ladies are always on a mission… This was followed by lots of energy draining choreography. And that’s just the audience! The comedy flows and I’m sure there’s a guy follows them everywhere called, ‘Harry Potter’. Sam always points him out. I liked their versions of ‘Amazed’ and a song called, ‘’Get You’.
The two charities ‘Arora’ and ‘Open Caste’ shared a magnificent £820. Well done to all concerned...
