Heat 7 of Wakefield Star Search.
It was a nice busy room at Westgate Common WMC on Wednesday night for heat 7 of the Wakefield Star Search Talent Competition; on the show were 5 acts hoping to reach the quarter finals. Jonathan Carroll introduced the first act, Rotherham girl Louise Champeaux; she was dressed in jeans, a black top and trendy boots; in her set Louise sang, ‘I Drove All Night’, ‘Stop’ and ‘Just Like A Pill’.
Next was Paul Hodgson from Castleford; Paul just loves singing rock and roll songs. ‘Great Balls Of Fire’ and Billy Fury's,‘Like I’ve Never Been Gone’ were a couple in his set...
The first part of the show closed with a two girl’s duo from Hull called, 'The Honeytrap Experience'. Two great singers, Zara and Sami Lou make up this duo; Zara was one of the artistes in the recent Blackpool Command show last Friday. 'The Honeytrap Experience' were dressed in short skirts and black sequined tops, Lts... In their set they sang, Adele’s, ‘Someone Like You’, ‘Last Night Of The World’, Lady Ga-ga’s, 'Telephone’ and the Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion classic,‘Tell Him’, in note perfect harmony...
After the interval Jonathan introduced York singer Thomas Henry, in his set he sang another version of Adele’s 'Make You Feel My Love'. I loved the backing track for this one, ‘If Tomorrow Never Comes’ and ’A Portrait Of My Love’.
The final act was a girl from Helmsley near York who looked great in a short maroon velvet dress; Lts... She sang in her set, ‘Over The Rainbow’, ‘My Guy’, (For me this was her best song) and a nice version of, yes again, ‘Someone Like You’...
The three acts going to the next round are, The Honeytrap Experience, Louise Champeaux and Thomas Henry...
