To say the weather once again was poor there was a great turn out for one of Yorkshires most established country singers. Ken Durrands has been singing country music for over forty years and I must say he seems to get better every time I see him. Going back a lot of years Ken was a prominent member of the Doncaster based Shack band with his long time buddy Phil Lloyd. Phil and Ken then went on as a Duo for a good many years packing venues up and down the country. Eventually they broke up, still as best of mates' and still do a few Duo gigs and went their different ways. Tonight Ken opened his show tonight with the Eagles song “Peaceful Easy Feeling”; it shows what a great voice Ken has, because you could hear a pin drop, other songs were“Sinners and Saints”, by George Jones and “Rambling Fever”, Merle Haggard. What a great night with Ken at Gilly’s.
Next week’s act is a duo from Holland, Ted And Joppe; new to Gilly’s and recommended by John Aston. Don’t Be late Y’all...
