Full Fat Funk At Carlton Smithies Club.
Not my usual destination on Monday night but I felt a change coming on. The club was busy and the artiste on stage was the magnificent, Full Fat Funk duo, with Jason Halliwell and Marina Scotney; they both looked great in their stage outfits, Marina in a short dress adorned with long tassels,(Lts). Jason was dressed in a rock musician style? It looked great anyway. Their music and singing was, (to steal a phrase from Jon Dean), ’Awesome’. The first song was a Queen song, ’Don’t Stop Me Now’, that was as Jon said, yes it was ‘Awesome‘ there were songs by Take That, (The Flood), Fleetwood Mac’s ’Dreams’. Marina took the lead in Emeli Sandi's, 'Next To Me'. there was Gerry Rafferty's ‘Baker Street’. Jason's saxophone skills are wonderful as is his guitar playing. I mustn’t forget Marina whose voice is lovely and her harmonies are, Class. I liked every song, every note but the highlight for me was the John Miles classic, ’Music’. how Jason gets those high notes is a mystery to me, his range is incredibly and as I said to Jon Dean, ’ Jason puts his own stamp on his interpretations of every song he sings…I give you… Full Fat Funk
