Dillinger At Gilly’s CMC…
The City club concert room was very busy on Tuesday night when Gilly’s Country Club welcomed the fun country band, ‘Dillinger’. Mike Sagar is on Dobro guitar and lead singer, he is also the very dry comedian of the band; on bass it’s newcomer Dave De Courcey; Dave has a great voice and joins in the harmonies. Next is drummer Alan Adams, he too has a good voice and his harmonies are good. Alan plays a great one note on triangle. Finally it’s good to see brilliant lead guitarist, Richard Harding back with the band; again he joins in the harmonies and can tell a good joke himself.
Dillinger opened their first set with, ‘Long Haired Boy’, continuing with ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’. The comedy was flowing thick and fast; they then moved on to the next song, a Larry Gatling song called ‘Midnight Flyer’. More songs were, ‘Vince Gill’s, ‘Little Liza Jane’, ‘Love Making Nights’ and one I always think of as Dillinger’s own song, ‘Magic Time’. A terrific and entertaining opening set… If you have never seen the legendary Dillinger, look out for them; they really are a Brilliant Band....
