Willow Park Social Club.
Pontefract’s Willow Park Social club was very busy on Sunday night; on stage was the one and only Black Lace singer/entertainer, ‘Dene Michael’. He looked great in a bright flowered shirt and white trousers and black patent shoes. Dene as we know has returned from Benidorm where he lived and worked for many years and is still as enthusiastic in his entertainment as he ever was. He opened his show with a lively ‘Save The Last Dance For Me’, his next songs were a medley of love songs cleverly put together. ‘Love Songs Are Back Again’, Let’s Put It All Together, Side Show, Have You Seen Her and You Make Me feel Brand New’.
Many requests were for ‘Penny Arcade’ and he had the crowd clapping and singing along with him; a real party mood was in the air. The top numbers, Agadoo, Do Te Conga etc were saved for his later sets.
Dene sang a couple of slower songs stunned the members into silence, ‘Dance With My Father’ and one that I particularly like, ‘What Colour Is The Wind’. He closed the first set with, ‘This Is The Moment’.
Dene’s partner, Karen will be celebrating her 29th (?) birthday on Wednesday, happy birthday Karen.
