Tonight in Brookhouse Club...
It's the concert secretaries Christmas party with Carrie Michaels and Jay Lee,
a Peter Kaye tribute act and he does look remarkably like the real man... There
was a small attendance of concert secretaries and members. Opening the
entertainment was Carrie Michaels; Carrie looked stunning in a red ball gown,
like the shoes. Her opening song was a Christmas song, ‘Winter Wonderland’,
there were more Christmas songs, well it was the Concert Secretaries Federation
Xmas Party. Carrie, who I saw on Sunday in another club, was in fine voice,
(well I was invited). There was ‘That’s Amore', there were some nice harmonies
from Jeanie, Carrie's mum and sound operator. A Celine song was next, no, not
that one. One of the great Frank Sinatra's top hits, 'My Way'. Lots more came
from this terrific lady, the audience was spellbound.
There were lots more in this impressive set. One for me, a Shirley Bassey song,
'As I Love You'. Thank you Carrie. Brilliant backing tracks and, again, Jeanie's
harmonies.
Next on the show was, Jay Lee. He opened his show with Tony Christie's,
'Is This The Way To Amarillo'. He continued with his comedy and I will not
repeat his jokes but he was funny, Jay used his audience for his laughs and they
responded well. Like the shoes. He came out in a wheelchair like the guy in
Phoenix Nights and another of his sketches was of a guy in a track suit.
There were other sketches and I have to say although l didn’t really know who
they were, they were funny. Jay sang some of Queen and Bin Jovi songs and I
have to say he has a good voice particularly in the higher range.
Jay finished his show with a Proclaimers song, ‘I’m Gonna Be, (500 Miles).
Well done that man
