The Pontefract Sports& Social club was a very busy club tonight for the Blackpool Command Preview Show...
There was a change in the cast due to Scandal’s Craig being unwell and KtStar was unable to sing tonight.
The first act was Si Sonata; he was very smart on stage in a black tuxedo, red shirt and (Ltps). Si opened his show with swing song,‘Its Wonderful’, that got things off to a cracking start. There were a few merry quips in between his songs that went down well He sang Frank Sinatra’s, ‘Ain’t That A Kick In The Head’, Dean Martin’s, ‘Little Old Wine Drinker’ Tony Christie’s,‘Avenues And Alleyways’. Si ended his set with Showaddywaddy’s, ‘You’ve Got What It Takes’. A good opening from Si Sonata...
I should add at this point that each act on the show carry good sound systems...
Up next was that lovely lady, Beebi Del; she was dressed in a short black taffeta dress, (Lts). Beebi has a lovely smile and an easy to listen to voice. Which she showed as she sang,‘This Is The Moment’, Petula Clark’s ‘Downtown’, Adele’s, ‘Make You Feel My Love’ and ‘Don’t Stop Believing. a very good set from Beebi..
Taking us into the break was James Brandon also very smart in a black suit and white shirt. He has a fine voice and is a very funny comedian. James opened with ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia’ in which he sang and “Played The Violin” which exploded during the song. There was the ventriloquism part of his show and lots of jokes. and the dancing Nuns; hilarious, James Brandon.,.
After the break we saw Laura Maggan who looked beautiful in a gown which was pink at the top, then a lighter pink lower down and faded off into a light. green Lts... Laura has a terrific voice and is classically trained. She opened her set with Celine Dion’s, ‘I’m Alive’ followed by, ‘You Raise Me Up’, ‘No Regrets. (In French no less). There was ‘Nessum Dorma’ and ‘Our Day Will Come’. A nice choice of songs....
Last but not least, three beautiful girls,Alexandra, Victoria and Zoe, all dressed in identical red gowns, (Made by Victoria, in the centre of the picture below.) and (Lts), ‘The Angelettes’ who sing soul and Motown. The voices, the harmonies and the choreography were fantastic to see. They opened with, ‘Dancing In The Street’ and went on to sing medleys by the Supremes that included, ‘Stop In The Name Of Love’, ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’, ‘Get Ready’ and ‘Rescue Me’ amongst many more. There
were many more songs in the set; for their encore the Angelettes sang, ‘River Deep Mountain High’ and ‘When Will I See You Again. What A Terrific Show...
