Well not entirely alone, Pat was out with Sharon, my youngest daughter celebrating her birthday with her friends. We met up later in the Duncan. It was a good night out but I missed her comments on the artistes I saw...
Viva is a trio from the Doncaster area was the act booked in at Alverthorpe WMC tonight. Two keyboards players, Gavin and his dad, Brian, were on keyboards, very good too with Lena, from Sweden, the vocalist who has a lovely voice. She did tell me the place name but I can neither remember nor spell it so… Just Sweden. They appeared on stage in matching black outfits, Lena with Gavin and Brian in harmony. They had a really good song choice that included,‘Here I Go Again On My Own’, ‘Who Knew’, ‘Left Outside Alone’ and ‘Living On A Prayer’.There were many other
covers and rock songs, well done Viva… Loved it…
Lofthouse Gate Welcomed Lauren Faye Moss.
This lovely lady was going down the proverbial bomb tonight in a busy Lofthouse WMC. I was there for her second set; there were dancers on the floor already. Lauren was dressed in her trade mark short dress and top complete with a studded belt and LTS. Her sound system is excellent and she knows just the right settings for her voice. Some of her songs were, ‘The Tide Is High’, ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’, there were the songs of Tina Turner, Shania Twain, Lady Gaga, (of whom Lauren does a tribute show)
and the Beatles. An excellent choice of songs for the members of Lofthouse Gate WMC…
The Spirit Of Smokie Welcomed In the ‘Duncan’…
Dean Barton, lead vocals and guitar, Andy Whelan, lead guitar and harmonies with Graham Kearns on bass guitar and harmonies, are the three guys who make up this terrific acoustic band. They were going down really well and the customers were keen to let me know how good they are. They sang all the Smokie Hits, Living Next Door To Alice etc, ( only had to stop Robin saying who the... you know the line... They added a few rock and roll songs. The landlord, Kieran Hall told me he was very happy with them and that they would be re-booked…
Next week it’s The Scratch Band. Don’t be late...
Two great friends of ours, Sue and Roy were married today on Sue's Birthday. Congratulations and a Happy birthday ... XXX
