THERE'S A CHAPTER ABOUT A YOUNG LADY WHO FREQUENTED MANY BARS IN THE KIRKGATE AREA LATE 1800s INTO THE 1900s, AND WAS LOCKED UP ON MANY OCCASIONS FOR BEING DRUNK AND DISORDERLY AND OTHER THINGS... "nudge nudge wink wink". ENOUGH SAID.. AND LOTS MORE. Change Of Artiste At The Nash… I had been invited to an OAP’s party in Staincliffe by the manager, 'Jo' through my good friend Marion Jackson. The entertainment was provided by one John Fitzpatrick. I know, John has been the subject of my blog on a few occasions of late but I was invited folks. There was some nice food provided and the people there were really friendly. They took John to their hearts immediately, they just loved his singing. I have been invited to go again to the next party… The Nash was quite busy tonight but the artiste on stage was unwell and just did one set; John was in the club and had his equipment with him so he was asked to do the honours which he did. He has sure come on in leaps and bounds and there is more to come I’m sure. He was dressed in a White Sports Coat, (Cue for a song), black shirt and trousers and (Lts). Some of the songs were, The Tremeloes ‘My Little Lady’, Tony Christie’s, ‘I Did What I Did For Maria‘, and Rita McNeil’s, ‘The Working Man’ . a very busy day for John, well done mate… The Horse And Jockey On Bridge Road Presents:- Friday December 28th. The Fox and Grapes is situated at 107 Stanley Road, Wakefield. WF1 1QE. The licensee is Steve who runs the pub with his lovely wife, Julie. When I called in tonight the place was buzzing; there was football on television and pool and darts going on. On January 1st 2013, (Obviously) the duo, Second Journey will be performing. Hopefully this will become another music venue in Wakefield... All the best Steve and Julie; Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you and your customers... Don’t Miss Second Journey, they are an excellent duo... "The Star" public House is on Batley Road, Kirkhamgate, Wakefield, WF 2 OR2 and boasts a fine restaurant. When I called in tonight, a good singer friend of mine, Terri Sullivan was entertaining in her own inimitable style. Terri has a fine voice and a good PA system. I was there just for a half hour set in which she sang songs to suit the age group of the company. There were Take That songs, others were by Adam Faith, Band Aid, Cliff Richard, (Mistletoe And Wine), there were Buddy Holly songs, Manfred Mann, Ami McDonald, and many more. Another pub that occasionally has live music... LADYBALK RECREATIONAL AND SOCIAL CLUB…

Another full club at Wakefield’s Westgate Common where Gilly’s CMC is based. On stage was the immaculately attired band, The Collier Dixon Line; Denis, Stuart, Biff and Johnny make up the band and are all accomplished musicians and vocalists. The harmonies are top notch and the song choice was just what the members and visitors love... Some of these were, ‘Hey Good Looking’, (I didn’t know they had seen me). An Everly Brothers song, (Written by Sonny Curtis), ‘Walk Right Back’, one called ‘Out Of Sight’, ‘This Is Where The Cowboy Rides Away’ in which the audience, joined in.
