Kirklees Lodge Charity Night.
This is my first time at one of these shows. It's a Masons Lodge and tonight there is entertainment happening. Pat and I were invited by John Fitzpatrick and his lovely missus Sharon; the room quickly filled up and there was great atmosphere. The first on the show was John who opened his show as Matt Monro, he opened with, 'How Do You Do'. John was very smart as he always is. 'A Portrait Of My Love' was the second song that was well received. I don't usually name the songs in a set but this is a one off, the next song was one of Matt Monro's best known songs, 'Walk Away'. John closed this part of the show with' Softly As I Leave You'. It was a very appreciative audience for John's show,
The second act was a tribute to the good old days; a comedy trio. really very funny, do you remember Eli Woods, Jimmy James and Roy Castle. Pat reminded me of the giraffe the elephant and the lions in the box. That brought back some happy memories. The comedy timing was absolutely terrific.
On stage next was Bob who accompanied himself on guitar. He opened his set with a Lonnie Donegan song, 'Putting On The Style'. 'I Always Thought I'd See You Again' was Bob's second song. I absolutely loved his version of a country / folk song, 'Romeo And Juliette, a Bob Dylan song but he has written so many songs I can't remember this one but it was good.
Three acts so far and each super. The last song was a country rock song. A Tim McGraw song, 'Just to See You Smile'. A Terrific set Bob Beckworth. He came back a little later to sing, 'The Streets Of London', and, 'Moon Shadow' a Cat Stevens song.
And then there was the Wood Smoke Lodge we're singing camp fire songs, rounds and skits, which were very funny and very entertaining.
Now it's time for the 'Pantomime:- Aladdin and his wonderful 'Gamp'. Complete with a narrator; again very funny. We HAVE enjoyed our night with Sharon and John...
The show Raised in excess of £750 on the night. Well done you guys, Brilliant!
