Friday Night Out...
The White Rose & Snooker club in Ossett was very busy tonight when I called in; this is Mick McGinley’s Friday venue for his disco/karaoke show. There was he music playing and the girls were dancing, a superb atmosphere. Mick is looking for a Tuesday venue as the Admiral Duncan will be closed next week.
Hanging Heaton club near Dewsbury, was very busy also tonight; there was a disco there and tonight plus a top line vocalist in the superb soul singer,
Richie Penrose, as always immpacably dressed for the stage. I just caught a few minutes of his set. Richie has a very smooth voice and it’s easy to listen to. I loved his version of ‘Three Times A Lady’ and ‘I’m Doing Fine’. It was a pleasure to listen to the great man if only for a couple of his songs...
Ladybalk Club near Pontefract was fairly busy too tonight where I saw Chris Johnson, the artiste on stage. Chris is very young but has a lovely voice. He dresses trendily for the stage looks good and moves well. (Lts), his voice has a good range and his PA is excellent. A few of Chris’s songs were a Michael
Buble song, ‘Hollywood’, ‘Moon Dance’, ‘I’m So In Love With You’, ‘Mr Bo
Jangles’and ‘Me And Mrs Jones’, a Billy Paul song... Chris sang some songs from the 60's, 'Runaround Sue' and 'The Wanderer were just a couple from a great mix of songs. A great set from Chris Johnson.
My final call tonight was at Alverthorpe WMC to see a two girls duo called Seventh Heaven’ they looked lovely in lilac tops, (Or were they purple?), Lts...
The concert room was very quiet but the girls, Leah and Layla didn’t let that deter them as they went through their songs in this the dance set. Some of the songs I heard were. ‘Respect’, ‘Sex On Fire’, ‘Human’, ’Daydream Believer’ and many more. The voices are very good and the the harmonies were excellent... I would like to see this duo, I was told by some of the members who were in the girls had been good all night... well done girls...
