The New Panto Website Is Now Live.
New Extended Season From 2nd - 30th December With 3 Shows Christmas Eve and 2 On Boxing Day! www.aladdinpanto.com Westgate Common Welcomed Nancy Ann Lee.. This young lady was on stage when I arrived but she sure didn’t miss me entering the room. The concert room was very busy and members were telling me how they loved her style. Nancy has a very strong voice, she plays a mean guitar and uses backing tracks to fill up the sound, (This was excellent). Some of her songs were, ‘Strawberry Wine’, a Denanna Carter song,‘How Long’, an Eagles song, Mary Chapin Carter’s, ‘Twist And Shout, ‘Ghost In My Radio’, a lovely song written by Nancy and the Alison Krause version of, ‘When You Say Nothing At All’.A brilliant show from a BCMA Winner, “Nancy Ann Lee”.
Kim 'B'.
Tonight I went to a very busy Nash, (Albion Street WMC in Castleford),Well it is Tuesday. I was pleasantly surprised to see Kim B; Kim looked terrific in a short dress with a silver necklace; Lts. Kim has super sound and lights systems. She opened her show with Cher’s ‘Walking In Memphis’ followed by the Bangles, ‘Manic Monday’. Kim has come a long way since she went as a solo act; her confidence and personality have greatly progressed. She even got away with Roy Orbison’s, ‘Penny Arcade’. I don’t know why people don’t like this song, its bouncy and it does get people singing and clapping along. More of Kim’s songs were the songs of the Corrs, Nancy Sinatra, Pink, Shania Twain and Abba. A good show from Kim 'B' .It was good to see her mum, “Queen B”, her dad and of course, James Her husband Well done Kim Blackpool Command Preview Shows.

On Television was Rugby League, a pool match in the games room and Entertainment in the concert room. On stage tonight was the lovely Lisa Pearson. She looked beautiful in a white dress. (Lts). Lisa has a wonderful voice and opened her show with Celine Dion’s, ‘I’m Alive’. Lots of people say that Lisa looks like Celine Dion and yes she does and sounds very much like her in some songs. There were songs of the Crystals, Lynn Anderson, (remember ‘Rose Garden’ ?), Connie Francis and a song with her husband Adam on the backing track singing in harmony with Andre Bocelli’s, The Prayer, (or, Con Te Partiro). Adam and Lisa are the famous La Musica duo and work extensivley on the ocean liners... Lisa opened her second set with another Celine Dion song. (Love that sound),, I liked her version of Dr Hook’s, ‘A Little Bit More’, There were lots more in different eras and Lisa was superb tonight. And as Abba would say, Thank You For The Music Lisa Pearson... Outwood Club had a good crowd in for the Stereo Love husband and wife duo. I was there for the dance set, both were dressed in quirky green, outfits which were luminous, Lisa has a super voice and Paul on keyboards and looking after the sound and lights has a good voice and sings some nice harmonies… some of the songs were, K.C and The Sunshine Bands ‘Give It Up’. Amy Winehouse’s version of ‘Valerie’, Edwin Starr’s ‘SOS’,
The O’Jay’s,‘Love Train’ and Status Quo’s, ‘Rocking All Over The World’. For an all action singing and dancing duo, go and see, “Stereo Love”. Just brilliant. Tomorrow morning Stereo Love will be singing for over 300 children at their son’s school. (Bet their looking forward to that). Stop Press... The children enjoyed the show... Alverthorpe WMC welcomed the male duo, 2 Real tonight, (Sunday 21st July). These two guys are excellent entertainers both in singing and comedy. The sound system and lights are top class.
2 Real opened their show with an ELO song, ‘Mr Blue Sky’ which was sung in perfect harmony. a few jokes and impressions followed and the went on to sing, again in perfect harmony, songs by The Stylistics, The Four Seasons, The Bee Gees, a medley of songs from the West End show, The Jersey Boys. ‘Lets Hang On’, ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’, ‘Walk Like A Man’ and ‘Rag Doll‘. All sung in harmony with Glyn Davies’s superb falsetto voice and Paul Walker singing the melody line. Paul is a Meatloaf tribute singer and sang a medley of Meatloaf song that included, ‘Two Outta Three Ain’t Bad’, ‘Paradise By The Dashboard Light’. And ‘A Real Dead Ringer For Love’. To end the set Glyn came back on stage as … yes… Cher. I have missed all the one liners out as usual but I saw a great set from “2 Real”… Big Day In The Admiral Duncan...
The ‘Duncan’ was very busy tonight; the band on stage was 'Big Day', from the Leeds area. A terrific band of musicians, (Two in one night, I hope we won the lottery too .... no chance). This is another band I rate highly; they play all the right music through a top class PA system. They played covers of, the Kinks, Oasis, Queen, Snow Patrol, the Small Faces, Kings Of Leon, Tom Jones, Madness and others. It was good to see so many of our friends in the Duncan, it’s where we usually finish our Saturday nights when we are in the area..’ I was very pleased when the band played Mrs T’s favourite Status Quo song, ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’. It finished the night for us in great style... |
