The Northfields In South Kirkby.
The place was reasonably busy tonight when one arrived at 6-40pm. Entertainment tonight was John Fitzpatrick who looked, as he always does. His voice gets ever better, a few of his songs were, 'The Wedding', 'Red' and an Elvis Presley song, 'Return To Sender'. There were songs you don't hear too often like this which is a Bobby Bloom song, (guess which that was), songs by Marty Robins, Emile Ford, the Backstreet Boys. It was good to see many friends here, there was Billy, Denise, Linda, me young mate, Lee Lambert and of course, John's lovely missus, Sharon. One of John's most requested songs was, 'Sex On Fire' , This went down really well, infact one of our friends, Billy was in tears with laughter. I liked John's version of, 'Release Me', there was an impressive version of an Englebert Humperdinck hit song from 1966. There was a Nat King Cole song, 'Smile'. John ended his show with a terrific dance set. Well done J. F. I have to say the atmosphere in the Northfields is excellent and the locals are very friendly. Encores followed AND Sharon, John's wife did her party piece when she sang Lulu's, 'Shout'. A great session of entertainment...
My next call was in the Willow Park Social Club. It was the occasion of the Pontefract & District Pool league. On stage is another great pal, comedian and vocalist, John Gillan. John was the guest comedian at the Blackpool Command Awards Show. Most people will know that John has an operatic standard voice, he also sings songs by Simple Minds, Joe Cocker, Pavarotti and lots more his comedy well, wow. No joke on here or song titles. Enough to say that John is a top entertainer. He closed his set with an Eagles song called, 'Desperado'. Brilliant John Fitzpatrick.
