I received a message today telling me that Stu Page, country singer and musician has passed away. Stu was the ultimate gentleman who always had time for others. He will be sadly missed. Rest In Peace Stu... My love and thoughts go out to his family and friends.
A Very Busy Admiral Duncan for the visit of the band, STAT who are made up of Simon on drums, Trevor on lead guitar, Alan on bass and vocals, Trevor on guitar and keyboards. The first initials of the guys make the name of the band. All were at one time in the top band os many years ago, Tubeless Hearts. Simon and Alan play for Tony Christie in his backing band... All are very talented musicians and singers. The harmonies are good, the sound, excellent and their choice of songs, really good.
Some of those songs, ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’, ‘Mama Told Me Not To Come’, ’Honky Tonk Woman’ and ‘Substitute’ and the rest. What a super band S.T.A.T. Saturday Night Out...
Crigglestone Club was reasonably busy tonight; Pat and I went to see the father and son duo, ‘2 Smart’. They are Marty Lee and his son Sam who looked immaculate on stage from top to toe... The sound equipment is excellent as are their lights and the voices, wow! They are excellent. Marty has been around a few years and his son, just six months but the voice is good and strong. The songs they sung tonight included one from the show, ‘Joseph And His Amazing Dreamcoat’, 'Any Dream Will Do' and had the audience singing along. One from The Platters, ‘Smoke Gets In Your Eyes’ in a reggae tempo and a Gene Pitney and Marc Almond song, ‘Something’s Gotten Hold Of My Heart’. Lovely harmonies and a stage presence. A great show from, 2 Smart... Very nice bar - restaurant in the center of Benidorm. 45.000 €

I called in at the Malt Shovel in Carr Gate, Wakefield; here I met the landlord and landlady, Steve and Lesley. Steve told me that there is a regular Elvis practice night here on the first Monday of the month except for May 6th as the first Monday is a bank holiday so this will be on the 13th of May. On Saturday April 27th there’s a solo entertainer called ...
Kevin Kendricks, a soul and Motown singer. There's a restuarant in the Malt Shovel and I was told by a friend of mine who went there for a meal; 'It's really nice home made food... Go and give it a try' ... My last call was at the Vine Tree in Newton Hill, Wakefield where Dave Tennant was in full flow as Disco and Karaoke DJ. There were a few singers whilst I was there; one guy called Dean England who has progressed to the third round of the X Factor and has to go back to Manchester on Sunday… Good luck Dean… Then folks, for me; home to my bed… Don't forget at the Admiral Duncan pub, 100 Thornes Lane, Wakefield, it's that great band, S.T.A.T. Heidi Mills Not far tonight for me; needed another rest so my first call was in Ossett where I saw Heidi Mills in a very busy Hammer & Stilthy pub. the landlord and landlady are doing really well. Heidi looked great in a short black dress and a wide belt. (Lts) .Her sound system is excellent and it compliments her lovely voice. Heidi has come on in leaps and bounds since I last saw her, tonight some of her songs were, The Corrs, ‘Breathless’, Amy Winehouse’s ‘Valerie’, Connie Francis’s, ‘Stupid Cupid ‘and Alexandra Burks’s , ‘Hallelujah’. Heidi went to put on her outfit for her next set, wow; she was wearing a Halfsie, (That’s an outfit half the size of a 'Onesie'). Well done Heidi Mills. |
