The act tonight in the Nash, (Albion Street WMC) was Gareth Lloyd; he was casually smartly dressed. Gareth has a good voice and sound equipment. He opened his set with a couple of 'Dire Straits songs, 'Money
'For Nothing'and‘The Sultans Of Swing’. Gareth has a quick wit and was getting laughs from the off. Creedence Clearwater Revivals ‘Bad Moon Rising’. One from Herman’s Hermits with Peter Noon. 'I'm Into Something Good'. A medley from the 70's was good. Gareth closed his set with a Rod Stewart song, 'Maggie May'. An excellent set from Gareth Lloyd..
Tonight my intention is to visit the Bull And Fairhouse where Jez Howard hosts his open mic night. It's been a long time since I've been to one of these. It's usually a full house and lots of great musicians gather there. I'm looking forward to that one folks. When I did arrive there I bumped into Kevin Grundy and his son Richard; he plays bass guitar, there was Sean O’Sullivan who plays a mean lead guitar and is a good singer to boot and of course Jez who plays guitar, banjo and other instruments and is another good singer. Just a few of the songs were, ‘Johnny Comes Marching Home’, Nooo not that one, there was a Beatles song, ‘A Hard Days Night’ and a Rod Stewart favourite, ‘The First Cut Is The Deepest’.
I met the owner of the Bull and Fairhouse who clearly enjoys the music. He has bands on quite regularly. Look forward to bobbing in again in the near future when Gavin Coulson’s band is there.
