Melody Lane Entertainers Supreme...
Alverthorpe Club welcomed top cabaret duo ‘Melody Lane’ on
Sunday night; Sonia and Roy is the man and wife team that make up the duo. They opened their show with some real up tempo songs which included. ‘Tell Me Ma’ in note perfect harmony, where the piccolos came from I didn’t see, it was so quick but they can really play them. As always Roy and Sonia are immaculately dressed on stage, both have wonderful voices and the stage choreography is something else.
There is plenty of humour and banter with the audience as they go through their performance. There was a Glen Miller big band medley as they took up the clarinet and saxophone; Roy played a mandolin as they performed ‘Hava Nagila’.There were songs by Tom Jones, Gerry Rafferty’s baker Street with Sonia
on saxophone and Roy on guitar and vocals. What more can be said about an excellent and professional duo, Melody Lane...
Chairman Kevin Laird told me that in September Alverthorpe is to introduce acts on Friday nights, further details when I get them but it sure sounds exciting...
