A Full Day On Sunday…
I must be dedicated to my music and entertainment; I spent an afternoon in a very busy Westgate Common club watching and listening to the wonderful music from Family band, BeardSmith. They were in sparkling form; they have changed the sets around quite a bit although they did star off with everybody’s favourite, ‘Wipe-out’ in which Gillan, the youngest member of the band played the drums, brother Ged joined in too. There were solo songs from Alice, Ged, Gary, Graham and not forgetting dad, Neil. You really have to see this band to appreciate my comments. They were a great success on their recent Blackpool Command performance…
Tonight I visited Hoyland Belmont club where I saw a good friend and singer, the immaculately dressed, Jon Dean. Some of his songs were, ‘My Son’, ‘The Answer’, ‘The Living Years and a good old up tempo country song called, ‘I’m Much Too Young To Feel This Old’, a Garth Brooks song. Jon has spent a lot of time on the Spanish holiday resort, Benidorm where he was very popular. That was the first time I ever saw him and liked him then. Look out for him ata club near you... Jon Dean...
My next stop was at Outwood Club, Wakefield where I saw the Hull duo, Russ X and Sooz Donkin who together are, ‘Exit’. What a super duo they are; they were on the last set when I arrived and were dressed in what I would describe as Rockers leathers. “LTS and B”.In this very impressive set they sang, Starship’s ‘We Built This City’ , Duffy’s, ‘Mercy’, Nicki French’s version of, ‘A Total Eclipse Of The Heart’, ‘Sex On Fire’, ‘Human’, Dexy’s Midnight Runners, ‘Come On Eileen’ and a terrific
Meatloaf duet, ‘Paradise By The dashboard Light’. Two top class singers...
A couple of years or so ago Russ X was the winner of the Wakefield Star Search…
