MARINA IN FERRY BRIDGE PROGRESSIVE WMC.
What difference a week makes. I was visiting Ferrybridge Wmc to see a lady I haven't seen for an eternity, that's what it seemed like; its Marina McKenna. Her show is called, 'Shout', Back To The 60's. Marina looked lovely in a short, green dress. She has a lovely voice too. Like the Boots, in the 60s style, Her first songs were in a Dusty Springfield medley of hits from the 60s, 'I Only Want To be With You', I knew Marina when she was a young shy lady, she has much more confidence these days. I like the next song, another Springfield song, 'Wishing And Hoping', more songs by Dusty Springfield followed. The next medley of songs were the songs of Petula Clark, a couple of those were from 1967', 'Sailor' and, 'Don't Sleep In The Subway' amongst others. These songs bring back some happy memories to me, There was Nancy Sinatra hit, 'These Boots Were Made For Walking', or, 'Boots'. She closed her set with, ‘The Windmills Of My Mind'. Well done Marina McKenna.
DENISE JOHNSON IN THE NASH.
Albion Street Club was reasonably busy tonight when I called in, the artist on stage was Denise Johnson who has a strong voice; she looked good in her stage wear, black trousers and a black sequinned top; "like the shoes". I was there in for her second set. Her first song was a Tina Turner song, 'Steamy Windows', the sound system is good too. An Abba medley followed, these are always popular in the clubs. I saw Denise's first set in a club in Barnsley. I said I would catch the second one, next I have to time it for the dance, or Party set as its being these days. Her next song was, 'I Wanna Fall From The Sky', (I think)'. 'Pay Attention To Me', (I'm Special). Rod Stewart songs was the last in the set, 'Maggie May'. 'Baby Jane', 'If You Want My Body', and, 'Sailing'. Good to see you again Denise Johnson...
