Smokie In Westgate Common Club.
The opening song was, 'For A Few Dollars More'; the guys in the band are, Andy Whelan on lead guitar and harmonies, Dean Barton On lead vocals and lead, vocals with Graham Kearns on bass guitar and harmonies. Altogether a great sound. I'm waiting for 'Living Next Door To Alice', the next song was a big hit for Smokie, 'If You a think You Know How To Love Me', no Alice yet? The sound is good and the crowd is hushed leaning on every word and every note, the next song is, 'Your Love Keeps Changing All The Time'. No still waiting for Alice. There was a Paul Weller song, 'Broken Stones'. I liked their version of, 'Take Good Care Of My Baby', a Bobby Vee chart hit in 1961 which went to number 1. Another I was waiting for was, 'Mexican Girl', no sign of Alice. More from The Spirit Of Smokie followed; quite a lot new to me that were good. A couple of Irish songs, 'Whisky In The Jar', was one, the last song in the set was, NO, not Alice, it was 'Wild Wild Angels'. Some wonderful harmonies here in this song. A good set guys.
I called at the Admiral Duncan, on stage tonight was a good band, 'The Taken', I liked their version of 'Dakota', one by The Stereophonics, there was, 'Brown Sugar ',a Rolling Stones big one, a new one on me was, 'Take Me Out', a Franz Ferdinand song, 'Wishing Well'. Was another popular song. Well done guys.
In the Admiral Duncan tomorrow night, Saturday is a change of band, Crazy 88 is the name. Sounds interesting.
