It was a quiet night in Outwood Wmc at 8-30pm when the artiste tonight,
Stacey Rhodes, took the stage, Stacey's opening snow was Adele's, 'To Make You Feel My Love'. She has a lovely easy listening voice. Her stage attire is a longish, (Below the knee) evening dress, sparkly, like the shoes. Songs by Shirley Bassey, Frankie Lyman,'Why Do Fools Fall In Love'; I think Stacey sang the Diana Ross version though. There was one especially for Mr T, Emeli Sande's 'Clown'. Stacey's backing tracks are excellent, Billy Ocean, Patsy Cline, The Ronettes, Dusty Springfield songs were in Stacey’s show tonight. Her last song was, 'Black Heart', a Stooshe song. This is a well put together opening set from Stacey; the right songs for the age group here tonight. Well done Stacey Rhodes. She did call me later in the evening to say there were lots more people in the room and she had a great time with the members.

On to the St John's Terrace Club in Normanton to see a couple of friends who are the duo, 'Festival'. Rob and Martin make up the duo. They were dressed casually smart, like the shoes, they have some very sophisticated equipment, Rob is lead singer and plays guitar and Martin is on keyboards and sings harmonies. They opened with Beatles songs, 'Lady Madonna', and, 'Get Back'. The walk on music is interesting. Wow! a super sound, well balanced and ultra clear. Tonight was only their sixth or seventh engagement. They continued with a band called Asia's, 'The Smile Has Left Your Eyes', played without a drum sound. There followed some good old rock and roll which had the dancers on their feet; a Danny and The Juniors, 'At The Hop', I enjoyed that, it's not often heard these days, a Willie Nelson country song, 'On The Road Again'. Even a bit of comedy and Reggae Music, 'Kingston Town'. A super duo, both in sounds and choice of material. 'Never Let It Slip Away'. Was the last song of the set. Martin Laycock is simply awesome on the keyboards in a terrific duo, 'Festival'.

Our last call tonight was at the Admiral Duncan, in Thornes Lane Wakefield where we saw the Scratch Band. They were in full swing when we got there singing an Eagles song 'Take It Easy'. On next was Stan The Man who sang 'Doctor Doctor'. 10/10 Stan, there was 'Bring It On Home', with audience Participation, Cliff Richards 'Move It', We were a bit 0n the late side and missed a lot but we enjoyed what we heard. I loved Del Shannon's, Runaway', sung by Stuart with the head voice. Hi Ho Silver Lining, a Jeff Beck hit. For their second final song the Scratch Band sang, 'When You Say Nothing At All'.

Next week it’s another local band, Strap On Jack. Don't Miss...
